Equal Love Rally, Melbourne, May 12 2012

An amazing Equal Love Rally was held on May 12, 2012. Guest speakers included Magda Szubanski, Carl Katter and Adam Bandt. The next Equal Love Rally will be held on August 11, 2012. See you there.

Eight years after the Howard Liberal government introduced the delightfully discriminating Marriage Amendment Act (2004), we’re still rallying for marriage equality.

Magda Szubanski was guest of honour at the Equal Love Rally on May 12, 2012:

Dear Julia, my partner Gregory and I have been in a relationship since November 2008. Gregory is a father of two. We want the right to get married. Why does the government not allow us to get married?

Julia, why can't Gregory and I get married?

  1. Gillard’s stance is odd indeed. As an atheist she’ll never get the support of the radical christians, muslims and jews. But then, is she an atheist? She has publicly announced her unequivocal support for the quasi theocracies of Israel and the USA. Has she ever given a cogent reason for her decision? Not just ‘I think…”?
    Thanks for the photos.

  2. Gillard’s stance is odd indeed. As an atheist she’ll never get support from the homophobes of devout muslims, christians and jews. but then i wonder if she is an atheist? if she is, why has she publicly announced her unequivocal and unquestioning support for the quasi theocracies of Israel and the USA? And has anyone ever forced her to give a cogent reason for her refusal to countenance equality? all she ever says is “I think…’

  3. Massive thanks to all the well-wishers, encouragers, supporters, photographers and protesters at yesterday’s Equal Love rally. We were absolutely gob-smacked by the tide of warm regard and appreciation. Was a true delight and privilege to walk alongside such lovely souls. Best of luck with your ongoing campaign.
